In the upcoming update for Apple Watch, there is a new app designed to measure the sound around you at all times. Is this useful or just a gimmick?
At first, this may seem like an exciting feature that you will most likely try out yourself when it's available. However, after using it for a while, I have turned it off. It's interesting to measure the sounds that are always happening around you. For the most part, pretty loud sounds will trip the Apple Watch and tell you that "staying in the area for an extended period could damage your hearing." To the average user, this may seem useless, but someone that has damaged their hearing already could find this useful. In not letting their damaged ears become worse by telling them it's too loud even when it doesn't sound like it is to them. I believe there may be uses here that we aren't also seeing. When the public gets it and puts it to the test, we will find more useful scenarios, but at this moment it seems like something we try once and forget about it.
